17th of August Night of Remembrance and Understanding of the Earthquake.
Denizli Municipality, AKUT(Search and Rescue Association) and AFAD (Disaster&Emergency Management Presidency), organizing the Night of remembrance and understanding of the earthquake on 17th of August, will present information for those who didn't live than and for the new generation about what happened 14 years ago and how the earthquake from 17th of August caused the death of thousands of people.
Deputy Mayor of Denizli Municipality Şamil Çınar, AKUT Denizli Team Leader Ibrahim Yıldız and AKUT Operation Leader Mustafa Etiman presented information about this topic to the public opinion in a meeting organized before the Night of remembrance and understanding of the earthquake.
At the meeting, Deputy Mayor Çınar drawing attention on the fact of earthquake, gave the following expressions: ''The earthquake from 17th of August should not be forgotten. Especially should not be forgotten by our country. In the earthquake many people lost their lives, their possessions and many of their most valuable things. This earthquake should carry a different importance for Turkey and for the whole world. It is important both economically and psychologically. Every year before 17th of August we need to tell to people who didn't live than and to the new generation about this earthquake. To take every measure for considering the fact of the earthquake is everyone's responsibility. ''
AKUT Denizli Team Leader Yıldız pointing out that earthquake is a task that falls to everyone, ''We need to be informed about the earthquake and to know what to do after it. 14 years ago thousands of people lost their lives. We need to remember and to remind them. We need to know what we have to do before the earthquake happen. I would like to invite all the citizens tomorrow at Earthquake Remembrance and Understanding Program. Our goal is to give to citizens the right information about the earthquake, ''he said.
In the meantime on Saturday, 17th of August, 2013 Time: 20:30 in Çınar Square will be held the Night of Remembrance and Understanding of the Earthquake.
