Özay Gönlüm has not been forgotten

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality didn't forget the 16th anniversary of Denizli's famous minstrel Özay Gönlüm's death. Leaving a wreath at the Özay Gönlüm memorial statue in front of the Çatalçeşme Theatre Hall, Mayor of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Osman Zolan said: ''As long as we will sing his songs, Özay Gönlüm will continue to live in our hearts. ''

Commemoration of the 16th anniversary of Denizli's famous minstrel Özay Gönlüm's death was held at the memorial statue in front of the Çatalçeşme Theatre Hall. Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan, Tavas Municipality Mayor, Turhan Veli Akyol, Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General, Mustafa Gökoğlan, Kızılcabölüklüler Foundation President, Ferhat Kuvvetoğlu, invited guests, citizens, and the students of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Atalar Study Center joined the commemoration ceremony organized by the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality. The ceremony started with leaving a wreath at the Özay Gönlüm memorial statue by the Mayor of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Osman Zolan and continued with a moment of silence and the National Anthem. In his speech here, Mayor Zolan said they met for the commemoration ceremony of our national artist Özay Gönlüm, one of the precious artists of Denizli and Turkey who passed away 16 years ago.

 

"The future generations will recognize him"


Stating that the artist Özay Gönlüm had introduced Denizli's culture to Turkey, and to the whole world, Mayor Zolan said: ''Our master artist we commemorate today, Özay Gönlüm is responsible for not losing and keeping alive the Denizli's folk songs today. He has made great contributions not only to Denizli but also to our country's culture. With his unique music style, Özay Gönlüm was a special artist. s long as we will sing his songs, Özay Gönlüm will continue to live in our hearts. Our children, our future generations will recognize him and our folk songs will be sung forever. ''
