The 6th Stone Sculpture Colony Begins

The 6th International Stone Sculpture Colony organized by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality and Kömürcüoğlu Marble begins on May 2. This year 192 projects in 43 countries have applied for the colony and 8 artists from 7 countries will participate in the project.

The introduction meeting of the 6th International Stone Sculpture Colony organized by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality and Kömürcüoğlu Marble took place at the Kömürcüoğlu Marble. At the meeting have participated the Deputy Mayor of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Ali Değirmenci, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Mustafa Gökoğlan, and Kömürcüoğlu Marble Chairman of Administrative Board Nihat Kömürcüoğlu. Ali Değirmenci said: ''I would like to invite all of the art lovers who are interested in this art to come to the open-air workshop that will be established at Kömürcüoğlu Marble. At this event will participate international artists. This year, 192 projects from 43 countries have applied to the colony. After the jury's evaluation, 8 artists from 7 countries have been chosen to participate in the workshop. On June 2, the artists' works will be presented to the public in an open-air exhibition. ''

Stating that Denizli has 19 ancient cities, Değirmenci said: ''When you look at the ancient times you can see that sculptures were part of our city culture. Denizli interviews with sculpture. By this occasion, I would like to thank the Mayor of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Osman Zolan and Nihat Kömürcüoğlu for organizing such an important event in Denizli. This year we will organize this event for the 6th time. I believe that this event will be organized for many years to come. We care about art and artists in Denizli. We want to reveal everything in terms of culture and art in Denizli.

Kömürcüoğlu Marble Chairman of Administrative Board Nihat Kömürcüoğlu said that Stone Sculpture Colony has resounded in the world. Kömürcüoğlu said: ''The 6th stone sculpture colony organized this year will take place between May 2 and June 2. Our jury has chosen the works that will be exhibited in the colony. This year 8 artists from 7 countries will exhibit their works. I would like to thank the Mayor of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Osman Zolan for giving us great support in the realization of this colony. ''
