Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan said in his message published on January 10, Working Journalists Day that press employees working in the name of freedom of information without considering the term of office are one of the most important elements of democracy. Stating that is the most important power after the legislative, executive and judiciary power in democratic societies, Mayor Osman Zolan said, ''Our citizens learning the right, impartial and real information is the most important need of public and public opinion and a sine qua non for healthy democracies. ''


Stating that in recent years, with the rapidly growing and developing social media, the need to inform the public has evolved into a different dimension, Mayor Osman Zolan said, ''It is very important to investigate the reality of events or situations in which everyone shares everything quickly. Journalists have become increasingly important nowadays as the age of communication. Press and press employees who establish the most important relationship between citizens and the public should see the value they deserve. ''

Mayor Zolan ended his message as follows: ''In the institutionalization of freedom of thought and conscience, press organizations and employees play an important role in the development of democracy.
