''Turkish Woman Yesterday and Today Seminar'' from the Metropolitan

By organizing the ''Turkish Woman Yesterday and Today Seminar'', Denizli Metropolitan Municipality emphasized the importance of Turkish woman in what is Turkey today.

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Culture, Tourism and Promotion Department, in cooperation with the Denizli Yörükleri Association, held the seminar called ''Turkish Woman Yesterday and Today''. Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Ali Değirmenci, Deputy Secretary-General Mustafa Gökoğlan, Head of Culture, Tourism and Promotion Department Hüdaverdi Otaklı, Denizli Yörükleri Association President Yaşar Celal Ceylan, guests and many citizens attended the seminar held at Çatalçeşme Theatre Hall.  Citizens showed great interest in the seminar where Prof.Dr. Dr Bilge Özkan Nalbant, Prof. Dr Nergis Biray, Doç. Dr Ayşegül Koyuncu Okça talked about the Turkish woman. In the same seminar, Prof. Dr Nalbant talked on the topic ''Turkish Woman from the Past till Now'', Prof. Dr Biray talked on the topic ''Turkish Woman in the Line of the Enlightenment Movement'' and Doç. Dr Okça talked about the ''Women in Yörük Life and in Documents''.


''Turkish women have always been in the most important position''


In his speech here, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Ali Değirmenci pointed out that Turkish women have always been in the most important position. Değirmenci said, ''Turkish women have been in the administration of the state, in social life from past to present. When we look at Dede Korkut Epics, we see the Bamsı Çiçekler and Selcen Women. We see the remarkable heroism of Fatma Yıldız commander in the liberation of Denizli, the heroism of Nene Hatunlar and Şerife Bacılar in the fight for the establishment of the republic, and in the liberation struggle. ''
