An example to Turkey with the projects on environmental awareness, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with TAP (Portable Battery Manufacturers and Importers Association) held the ''Waste Battery Training Seminar'' for teachers working in schools in the centre of the city and districts. Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department completed the training started in the districts a while ago and ended with the seminar held at Çatalçeşme Theater Hall. Head of Environmental Protection and Control Department Naciye Kapukıran, TAP Project manager Diyem Özer and trainers attended the seminar. In her speech at the seminar, Head of  Environmental Protection and Control Department Naciye Kapukıran talked about the importance of collecting the waste batteries and said that they hold many conferences and training on this topic.

Target 10 thousand kilograms of waste battery

Stating that Denizli Metropolitan Municipality collected a total of 8 thousand 704 kilograms of waste battery in Denizli,  in 2018, and that they have a target of 10,000 kilograms for 2019, Kapukıran said, ''We continue to work in the environment, and we know that we have received awards. We will spread our perspective on this subject to our students in districts, thanks to our valuable instructors. ''Striking that the heavy metal waste inside the battery, which is a simple energy source,  causes serious damage to the environment, Kapukıran said, ''The waste battery pollutes both the water and the soil seriously. We collect the waste battery in boxes, and we distribute brochures to schools to collect these materials that pollute our environment. In this way, we can contribute to environmental cleanliness together. I thank you for your sensitivity. ''

Keep batteries away from heat

TAP Project manager Diyem Özer made a presentation about the use of batteries and their harm to the environment. Özer said, ''Batteries are an inevitable part of our daily lives. We throw them after their life finish. However, the batteries continue to be dangerous even after they become waste. Temperature increases the chemical reaction in the battery. Therefore, we must keep the batteries away from the heat. If we want to prevent an environmental catastrophe caused by the batteries, which are indispensable in our lives, we must collect them separately from the other wastes and throw them into the battery collection boxes. ''After the presentation, participants received participant certificates, brochures, training CDs and waste battery collection boxes.
