Releasing a message on the occasion of March 18 Martyrs' Memorial Day and the 104th Anniversary of Çanakkale Victory, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan said, ''104 years ago, the heroic epic wrote by our ancestors in the Battle of Çanakkale laid the foundations of the Republic of Turkey. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his fellow comrades in arms fought in the Battle of Çanakkale for their independence and defeated against the enemy. They showed that no matter what the circumstances, the Turkish nation would not submit to any power. The Çanakkale epic is not limited to Anatolia. In our Çanakkale Martyrdom, we can see the name of our martyrs who joined this war from wide geography, from Halep to Kirkuk and from Jerusalem to Bosnia. For this reason, the Çanakkale Victory is the epic of independence of the Turkish Nation, which lived in wide geography, not only in Anatolia but from the Balkans to the Middle East and Asia. ''

Stating that they will always remember the martyrs of the Turkish Nation, Mayor Zolan finished his message by saying: ''The Turkish nation, with its unity and faith, has eliminated every difficulty and has never been in captivity. Çanakkale Victory is one of the brightest victories of the Turkish Nation. Our heroes who say ''Çanakkale is not passable'' have proved the power of our nation to the whole world. Our flag and our land are the most sacred relics for our martyrs. On the 104th anniversary of Martyrs' Memorial Day and Çanakkale Victory, I commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his heroes who have passed on to eternity with respect, gratitude and mercy. ''
