Mayor Zolan: ''Our investments in environmentally friendly energy continue''
Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, which continues to be an example with its investments in renewable energy resources, started to generate electricity from the wastes collected at the Tavas Solid Waste Disposal Facility. The facility will meet the electricity needs of 3,500 households per month with the energy produced.
Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, which received the title of Turkey's ''Most Environment-Friendly'', "The Cleanest'' and "The Healthiest'' municipality, continues to attract attention with its investments in renewable energy sources. In this context, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality increased five times the amount of electricity generated from methane gas obtained from the wastes in Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Kumkısık Solid Waste Disposal Facility and launched a similar investment in the Tavas Solid Waste Disposal Facility. The facility, which took the license from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) for the production of electrical energy, has also placed a double-deck gas balloon of 3,500 cubic meters here, to store the methane gas from the wastes.
The facility will meet the electricity needs of 3,500 households
An average of 150 tons of domestic waste is received daily at the Tavas Solid Waste Disposal Facility, and 80,000 tons of domestic waste have been stored so far. The facility will produce a total of 1.2 MWh of electrical energy per day from methane gas produced from domestic waste, which will meet the electricity needs of 3,500 households.
Built to end wild storage in 5 districts
Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan implemented the Tavas Solid Waste Disposal Facility project to end wild storage in Tavas, Kale, Beyağaç, Acıpayam and Serinhisar districts. With the facility put into service in 2018, domestic solid wastes collected from 5 districts started to be collected and disposed of. The facility also eliminates the risks that threaten human and environmental health in Tavas, Kale, Beyağaç, Acıpayam and Serinhisar districts, which store solid wastes in the wild.
Environmentally friendly renewable energy investments will continue
Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan said that they continue to invest in the future. Noting that they continue to work day and night to protect our city, Mayor Zolan said, '' Our Tavas Solid Waste Disposal Facility, put into service two years ago to end to wild storage, which harms the environment and human health in 5 more districts, produces electricity today. This investment is a great pleasure for us. We implemented an important investment for the environment and human health, and for our country's economy, which dependents on foreign energy. We continue our environmentally friendly renewable energy investments. Good luck to our city. ''
