The 348 artists participated from 33 countries with 682 works.

 

The results of the International Cartoon Contest organized by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality this year were announced. This year, 348 amateur and professional artists participated from 33 countries, with 682 works in the contest organized with the theme of "Healthy Life and Sports''. Last weekend the Jury members gathered at the Genç Denizli headquarters in the Historical Merzeci House, where they evaluated the works. Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Serhat Akbulut, Head of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs Hüdaverdi Otaklı, Culture and Art Branch Manager Arif Duru, Tourism and Promotion Branch Manager Samet Başer, Cartoonists Şevket Yalaz, Savaş Ünlü, Mehmet Selçuk, Abdülkadir Uslu, Altan Özeskici, Ali Şur and Kübra Deligöz examined and ranked the works.

 

The prize giving ceremony and exhibition on May 5

 

The cartoon of Liu Qiang from China was chosen first in the category of over 18 years old, the cartoon of Oleksiy Kustovsky from Ukraine was the second, and the cartoon of Vladimir Kazanvsky from Ukraine was the third. Nuhsal Işıl and Musa Gümüş from Istanbul and Cemalettin Güzeloğlu from İzmir won the honorable mentions. Furkan Aytur and Zeliha Nur Maviş from Sinop and Ceylan Figen from İzmir won the honorable mention in the category under 18 years old. The prize-giving ceremony and exhibition of the contest will take place on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Turan Bahadır Exhibition Hall. On the other hand, the famous jury members of the cartoonists came together with the caricature enthusiasts from Denizli and took an interview. Cartoonists who described sections of business and art life gave portrait drawing training to young people.

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan said there is an intense interest in the International Cartoon Contest organized for the third time. Stating that  348 participants from 33 countries sent works to the contest, Mayor Zolan said, ''Each contestant drew attention to the theme of healthy living and sports with their beautiful cartoons and created awareness with the works they prepared in this regard. I thank all the participants who sent their cartoon works to our competition, and I congratulate the artists who ranked. Hopefully, we will present the cartoons in an exhibition on May 5. ''
