The 847th anniversary of the Myryokefalon Victory was celebrated.

 

A celebration program took place for the anniversary of the Myryokefalon Victory, which happened on September 17, 1176, near the Kufi Stream in the Çivril District of Denizli, which confirmed Anatolia as the Turkish homeland. The program, organized in cooperation with Denizli Metropolitan Municipality and Çivril Municipality, started with laying a wreath at the Atatürk monument in the Cumhuriyet Square of Çivril District. Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan, Pamukkale University Rector Prof. Dr Ahmet Kutluhan, Çivril Mayor Niyazi Vural, guests and citizens attended the program. Celebrating the historic victory, Mayor Zolan said, ''On the 847th anniversary of our Myryokefalon Victory, we commemorate our heroic ancestors and our beloved martyrs with respect, mercy and gratitude. May Allah bless them and rest in heaven. ''

After a moment of silence and reading the National Anthem, the ceremony continued in the Kufi Stream Valley, where the war took place 847 years ago. The program started with the Holy Quran and featured special shows. Breathtaking horse-drawn javelin shows took place at the event, where the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mehter Concert and the performances of the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Folk Dances Group impressed the audience. Çivril Photographs Exhibition also took place at the ceremony, where horse-drawn sword-shield and traditional archery demonstrations and trap shooting were held.
