The 876th anniversary of the Battle of Kazıkbeli is commemorated.

 

The Denizli Metropolitan Municipality will organize commemorative events for the Battle of Kazıkbeli, which resulted in the victory of the Turks 876 years ago and held significant importance in Anatolia becoming the homeland of Turks. The commemoration program for the historic heroes will take place on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 12:30 PM at the Cankurtaran National Park Picnic Area. The Battle of Kazıkbeli, where the Second Crusade Army was defeated as it passed through the Cankurtaran District borders and headed towards the Acıpayam Plain, will be remembered with presentations such as a speech titled "The Battle of Kazıkbeli and Its Consequences" by Prof. Dr. Turgut Tok, President of Denizli Turkish Hearths, as well as an exhibition of Kazıkbeli Battle Ruins and protocol speeches. As part of the commemorative events, the 'Traditional Golden Arrow Award of the Year' was organized by the 1176 Association and a conference titled 'The Activities of Germans in Denizli During the Second and Third Crusades' by Assoc. Prof. Gülşen İstek will take place on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 8:00 PM at the Çatalçeşme Chamber Theater. It was noted that all Denizli residents are invited to both programs.

Mayor Osman Zolan expressed great pride in the Battle of Kazıkbeli, which resulted in the victory of the Turks 876 years ago and held significant importance in the becoming of Anatolia's Turkish homeland. Mayor Zolan also recalled that Denizli has never fallen to enemy hands throughout history, stating, "This land has been made a homeland with the bloodshed. Those who do not know their past cannot determine their future. Nothing without roots can stand. As the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, we cherish our deep-rooted history. Events like these are important to pass our past to our future. I commemorate our ancestors with blessings. May they rest in peace."
