The initiatives launched by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu to enhance the city's national and international recognition have started to yield results. As part of these efforts, a search conference titled ''Designing Denizli's Future'' was held in September to uncover the city's wealth collaboratively and lay the foundations for its future. This was followed in October by a meeting with tour operators in Antalya. Shortly after these steps, the first foreign tourists arrived at Çal Wine Route, one of Denizli's key tourism destinations.
The First Foreign Tourist Group Visits Çal Wine Route
A group of tourists from Germany vacationing in Türkiye started their Çal Wine Route tour from Pamukkale. Their itinerary included visits to Kaklık Cave, Selcen Village, and a local winery, followed by lunch in the region before returning to Pamukkale. The tour emphasized Denizli as Türkiye's largest grape-growing plateau and showcased Turkish grapes, viticulture, and the producers and culture behind them. The tour concluded with a presentation on the journey of grapes and the production of Denizli wines. Guests had the opportunity to pair and enjoy both local and international dishes with locally-produced wines.
''We Are Showcasing Denizli's Tourism Potential to the World''
Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu highlighted their ongoing efforts to share Denizli's natural, historical, and cultural riches with broader audiences, stating: ''Denizli boasts unique tourism potential not only for Türkiye but for the world. From Pamukkale, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to natural wonders like Kaklık Cave and cultural treasures like the Çal Wine Route, every corner of our city is a point of discovery. We are working diligently to promote these assets, support local producers, and boost tourism revenues to contribute to Denizli's economy. Today, we are delighted to see the fruits of these efforts. The choice of the Çal Wine Route by the first group of tourists from Germany is an encouraging step for Denizli's international recognition. This tour offers guests a cultural journey from the vineyard to the table and highlights our local producers and values. Our goal is to position Denizli as a leading tourism destination and transform our city into an attraction centre by hosting visitors from all over the world. We will continue our efforts with determination, striving to share the natural beauty, cultural wealth, and hospitality of our city with the world. ''
Emphasizing that these tourism initiatives contribute significantly to local development, employment, and the economy, Mayor Çavuşoğlu said, ''The future of Denizli will shine brighter with tourism. ''He also noted that this process will strengthen further through collaboration with all stakeholders.
