Denizli Metropolitan Municipality collaborates with Japan on disaster management
Denizli Metropolitan Municipality has signed an international collaboration to achieve its goal of creating a more disaster-resistant city. Following this agreement, the Disaster and Crisis Management Training Program was held online with Sendai, a leading Japanese city in disaster management.

A disaster management bridge has been established between Denizli and Japan.
A 20-member technical team from the Departments of Disaster Affairs, Urban Planning and Development, Fire Department, and Survey and Projects attended the online program held in the S3 Hall of the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Congress and Culture Center. During the training, Sendai city experts delivered presentations on topics including pre-disaster preparedness, crisis management, post-disaster recovery measures, and community-driven risk reduction strategies. Participants gained insights into Japan's sophisticated disaster response systems and leading practices.
"A Disaster-Ready, Safe, and Resilient City"
This training program, launched following official contacts initiated by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Hülya Bartal's visit to Sendai, aims to lay the foundation for long-term cooperation between the two cities. The program's main objectives are to strengthen Denizli's disaster preparedness capacity, increase inter-institutional coordination, and promote international knowledge sharing. The training will also provide a crucial foundation for the Disaster Coordination and Logistics Center, planned to be established within the Disaster Affairs Department. This significant initiative goes beyond simply technical sharing between the two cities; it also represents a strong international connection between Türkiye and Japan on disaster management and resilient cities.
