Hosted by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, the 2nd Denizli Opera and Ballet Days opened with the epic opera “Troy,” inspired by Homer’s Iliad. The magnificent performance received great acclaim from art enthusiasts.

The magic of Troy in the city of art, Denizli
Organized in cooperation with Denizli Metropolitan Municipality and the General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the event continues to bring distinguished productions together with art lovers in its second year. Composed by Bujor Hoinic and staged by the İzmir State Opera and Ballet, “Troy” met the audience at the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Congress and Culture Center Özay Gönlüm Hall and received tremendous appreciation. The program was attended by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Ali Marım, Secretary General Bülent Bozbaş, General Director of State Opera and Ballet Barış Salcan, Deputy Secretary General Özgür Başkurt, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Adem Özel, along with numerous invited guests and citizens.
Emphasis on Denizli as a city of art
Delivering the opening speech, Secretary General Bülent Bozbaş stated that they are working to ensure Denizli is recognized not only for production but also for culture and the arts, saying: “We want to transform Denizli into a city that thinks, feels, and lives through art.” Expressing their satisfaction with organizing the event for the second time following the strong interest shown last year, Bozbaş noted that they believe the organization will continue to grow in the coming years and become one of Türkiye’s leading cultural and artistic events. General Director of State Opera and Ballet Barış Salcan emphasized that the Denizli Opera and Ballet Days have now evolved into a permanent organization contributing to the city’s cultural identity, adding that the strong interest shown by the people of Denizli in performing arts is the clearest indicator of this success.
Denizli flocked to the Troy Opera
With its magnificent stage design, Trojan Horse set decoration, and epic storytelling, “Troy” brought history and art together on the same stage, offering the audience an unforgettable experience. At the end of the evening, Deputy Mayor Ali Marım presented a plaque to Barış Salcan. The event, which continued with two separate performances on Friday and Saturday, attracted significant attention from art enthusiasts.
