Fifth-grade students included in nutrition support

Continuing its efforts to promote equal opportunities in education and contribute to children’s healthy development, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality has launched a new application period for its nutrition support programme, which has become a reference point for social municipal services. The programme began in December 2024 with 185 first-grade students at two pilot primary schools and reached 8,272 children across all primary school grades by the end of the 2025–2026 academic year, setting a new record. Applications for the 2026–2027 academic year are now open. The programme has also been expanded to include fifth-grade middle school students. Applications for the programme, administered by the Department of Social Services, can be submitted online through the “Applications” section of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality’s official website or via the online application system.

Existing beneficiaries do not need to reapply

Families of students who benefited from the nutrition support programme during the previous academic year and whose eligibility remains valid do not need to submit a new application for the new period; their entitlements will continue. Families of children newly starting primary school, as well as families of primary and fifth-grade middle school students in need who have not previously benefited from nutrition support, may apply to the programme. Applications will remain open throughout the year, with the programme aiming to help prevent learning difficulties, attention problems, cognitive developmental delays and deficiencies in children’s physical development.

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu stated that they would continue to provide all possible support to ensure children grow up healthy and succeed in their education, saying, “With this programme, we are both easing the burden on our families and investing in the future of our children.” Noting that fifth-grade middle school students have also been included in the programme in the new period, Çavuşoğlu said, “We will continue to stand by every citizen in need and reach out to every segment of society.”
