50-Day Championship Marathon Comes to an End

The “Inter-Departmental Football Tournament,” organized to strengthen unity, solidarity and social interaction among Denizli Metropolitan Municipality employees, concluded with an exciting final. The tournament, which began on June 24 with 30 teams and approximately 450 employees taking part, brought a strong spirit of friendship to the football field. Organized under the coordination of the Department of Youth and Sports Services, the final day witnessed intense competition. In the third-place match, the Firefighting Warriors faced the Central Fire Response Team in a hard-fought contest, while the Social Services Department and the Support Services Department went head-to-head for the championship title.

Mayor Çavuşoğlu: “Friendship and Unity Were the Real Winners”

Speaking at the trophy ceremony, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu emphasized that the tournament was more than just a sporting event, noting that its true purpose was not simply to win, but to have fun together and stand shoulder to shoulder. Stressing that sport is not merely a physical activity but also has a unifying and restorative power, Mayor Çavuşoğlu said:

“Football is not just a game; it is one of the most beautiful languages of laughing together, sweating together and standing shoulder to shoulder. This tournament has been one of the finest examples of social interaction, unity and solidarity among our colleagues. I would like to thank all our employees who gave their all on the field and never compromised the spirit of fair play. The winners are friendship and our Denizli Metropolitan Municipality family.”

“This Wonderful Picture Also Reflects the Effort Devoted to Our City”

Continuing his remarks, Mayor Çavuşoğlu thanked everyone who contributed to organizing the tournament as well as the participating employees, emphasizing that the dedication shown by municipal staff on the field was also a reflection of their commitment to serving the city.

Mayor Çavuşoğlu said, “Around 400 of our colleagues contributed and put in great effort throughout this process. At the end of the day, one team emerged victorious, and I would like to congratulate our winning team once again. As those of us who carry the responsibility and challenges of this city on our shoulders, we already put even more sweat and effort into our work in the field every day, to the best of our ability. I would also like to thank each and every one of you for your hard work, your dedication and the contribution you make to our city. We are grateful to have you.”

Awards Presented to Their Recipients

Following the speeches, the awards ceremony began. First, Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu presented certificates of appreciation to the referees who contributed to the tournament. Awards were also presented to participants who stood out for their performance and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

In this context, Beltaş A.Ş. was presented with the Fair Play Award for demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship by refusing to accept a walkover against the Central Fire Response Team, whose firefighters were unable to participate due to their duties. The award was received on behalf of the team by Beltaş A.Ş. General Manager İbrahim Doğan. In the individual categories, Behçet Akarsu received the Top Scorer Award, while Hüseyin Say was named Best Goalkeeper with the Fewest Goals Conceded.

Champions: “Social Services”

Following the fiercely contested matches, the Firefighting Warriors finished the tournament in fourth place, while the Central Fire Response Team took third place and the Support Services Department finished as runners-up. The Social Services Department team, which crowned the 50-day marathon with a championship title, celebrated the joy of receiving the trophy. The ceremony concluded with a commemorative group photograph.
