The TRY 7.4 million investment implemented in Honaz district will meet the region’s drinking water needs smoothly for many years to come. Problems such as low pressure and insufficiency—especially experienced during the summer months due to increased water consumption—have been eliminated with this investment. With the newly commissioned system, the neighborhoods’ water network is now supplied through the new line, ensuring optimal pressure levels. In order to ease the financial burden on women producers, a total of 258 stands have been allocated to participants free of charge within the scope of the festival. Following applications received via the official website in November of last year, participants were determined through a draw held on December 15, 2025, at Mehmet Gazi Hall. Throughout the festival, women entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to meet consumers directly and expand their market networks.

Festival Excitement to Begin with Tuğba Ger

Bringing vibrancy to the city’s cultural life, the opening guest of the festival will be the powerful voice of Turkish folk music, Tuğba Ger. The three-day program will begin with the opening ceremony on Friday, May 8, at 12:00 PM, featuring the esteemed artist, and will include a variety of educational workshops, inspiring talks, sharing success stories, and activities for all age groups. While the project, implemented with an investment of TRY 18.6 million, progresses in line with the planned schedule, the reinforced concrete phase—considered the backbone of the project—has been completed. Within the scope of the project, the reinforced concrete works for the 1,000-cubic-meter reservoir chamber, where drinking water will be stored, and the valve (manoeuvre) chamber, which will ensure system control and management, have been fully completed. The main structural systems ensuring the safe storage of water have been established in the reservoir chamber, while the infrastructure for valves, connections, and control equipment has been prepared in the valve chamber. With this stage, the most critical structural component of the project has been completed.
 
Target: Strong Pressure, Uninterrupted and Safe Water Supply
 
 With the completion of the project, long-standing issues such as low pressure and water outages in the central neighbourhoods of Çameli will be eliminated. Thanks to the new reservoir, constructed at a higher elevation than the existing one, network pressure will be balanced, and especially residents living at higher elevations will gain uninterrupted access to drinking water. With the new system, it is also aimed to minimise transmission losses, improve network efficiency, and enhance drinking water safety to the highest level. Through DESKİ’s investment, the foundations of a sustainable infrastructure that will serve Çameli for many years will be established.

One of the most prominent focus areas of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality in recent times has been rural support policies. Through projects implemented to ensure the sustainability of agriculture and livestock production, the financial burden on producers has been alleviated while continuity in production has been secured. In addition to fertiliser, fuel, seed, and sapling support, multifaceted contributions have been provided to producers through flake feed, Hungarian vetch, mastitis vaccines, and veterinary services.

 

With barley and corn purchase supports preventing the depreciation of producers’ goods, and agricultural machinery and equipment grants increasing production capacity, a comprehensive support system has been established. Long-term productivity has been targeted through olive sapling distribution and pasture fertilisation efforts, and all these steps have evolved into a strategic development model that preserves and enhances Denizli’s production strength.
 

Expanding social solidarity

 
Denizli Metropolitan Municipality has developed comprehensive support mechanisms not only for children and producers but for all segments of society. Access to affordable food has been facilitated through municipal restaurants and markets. Hundreds of thousands of people have been provided with hot meals throughout the year via soup kitchen services. Through the Social Assistance Card program, support has been extended to citizens in need, while local tradespeople have also been integrated into this system. Numerous initiatives, including heating assistance, food packages, relocation support, newborn baby packages, and social spaces for retirees, have institutionalised social solidarity. In the field of healthcare, a wide range of services has been established, from home care services to free vaccination support.

 Nevruz, symbolising the arrival of spring, was celebrated with events held at Delikliçınar Square by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality. The program was attended by Denizli Metropolitan Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, Pamukkale Mayor Ali Rıza Ertemur, municipal officials, representatives of non-governmental organisations, students from the Turkic world, guests, and a large number of citizens.
 
Nevruz enthusiasm filled the city square.
 
 The program began with a moment of silence and the playing of the National Anthem. Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu and protocol members then lit the Nevruz fire, symbolising rebirth, with wishes of abundance and health. During the ceremony, which attracted great public interest, traditional rituals such as jumping over the fire—symbolising purification and prosperity—and forging iron on an anvil were performed. Festive activities such as egg-cracking and tug-of-war competitions added colour to the program.

 In his speech during the Nevruz celebrations, Denizli Metropolitan Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu delivered an inclusive message addressing all segments of society. Çavuşoğlu stated, “Nevruz is not only the herald of spring; it is also the pioneer of unity, brotherhood, and solidarity. Together, we must build a city and a country where no one is marginalised, where women and children are happy, and where individuals can freely express themselves. On this ancient festival, where pessimism comes to an end, and abundance arrives at our doorstep, we continue to strengthen our shared sense of brotherhood with the diverse colours of our journey from Central Asia to the present day.” In his speech, Mayor Çavuşoğlu also addressed global developments and conflicts in the region, stating, “At a time when many parts of the world are turning into zones of conflict, we need unity and sharing more than ever. Today, we deeply understand the importance of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s words: ‘Peace at home, peace in the world.’”

 Dr Banu Nagashezova, a student from Kazakhstan at Pamukkale University, emphasised that the bridge of brotherhood extending from beyond the Caspian Sea to Anatolia is revived through the fire of Nevruz, stating, “Nevruz is not only the day when the ice melts, but also when resentments in hearts dissolve.” Highlighting the unity of the ancestral homeland and the motherland with greetings brought from Turkestan, Nagashezova expressed her wish that this UNESCO-recognised global heritage would bring abundance and peace to all humanity.

 During the program, where poems reflecting the meaning and significance of the day were recited, the Caucasian Folk Dance Group delivered an impressive performance. In the finale, Mesai—known for gaining widespread recognition through the talent show Yetenek Sizsiniz Türkiye—performed Central Asian melodies. Earning great appreciation from the people of Denizli with their innovative interpretations of Turkish music, the group combined traditional instruments such as the kopuz and dombra with modern arrangements, creating unforgettable moments for the audience. The program, which brought the epic spirit of the Turkic world to the heart of Denizli, concluded with the traditional Nevruz Halay dance. Before the event, Group Mesai also visited Mayor Çavuşoğlu at his office.
