
Aphrodisias Laodicea The 6-th International Youth, Sport, Art and Culture Festival Begins
Aphrodisias Laodicea The 6-th International Youth, Sport, Art and Culture Festival is organizing by Pamukkale University and with the support of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Denizli Governorship and National Olympic Committee.
Halil İbrahim Ertekin Vice Governor, Şamil Çınar Deputy Mayor of Municipality, Prof.Dr. Fazıl Necdet Ardıç Rector of Pamukkale University, Turgay Kıran Board Member of National Olympic Committee, 27 youth from 14 different countries and 23 students of the department of physical education and sport took part in the opening ceremony which was held in Laodicea Ancient City. 50 youth from U.S., Australia, Poland, Azerbaijan, Germany, China, Finland, Cyprus, Korea, Latvia, Romania, Algeria, United Arab Emirates, Bulgaria and Turkey have been informed about excavations in Laodicea Ancient City.
Şamil Çınar stated that it’s very important to inform students about responsibility and excavation of the ancient city which was given to Denizli Municipality by the Ministry of Culture. We aim that this ancient city is constantly visited by tourists and that this place is very suitable for festivals. And thanked everybody who contributed to the organization of the festival.
Turgay Kıran stated that the festival’s aim is to introduce Turkey’s values, to merge love, friendship and brotherhood of youth through sports. For many years it was told that Greece is the birthplace of the Olympic Games. But we should know that the sport games were held here 600 years ago. There are stadiums that can house 30.000 and 50.000 persons. Our aim is to let Europe to hear about this.
Later in the night guests enjoyed and danced in Laodicea with the organization of Denizli Municipality.
