United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Traditional Sports Festival Begins

Festival will begin on 10 October 2012 / Wednesday at 11.00 with Horseback javelin and will finish on 14 October 2012 / Sunday with Strongman Truck Pull and Sumo tournament. Press Conference about festival was held at Denizli Municipality's Sport Toto Sports Complex. Mayor Zolan, MPs Nihat Zeybekci, Mehmet Yüksel, Nurcan Dalbudak, Bilal Uçar, Denizli Governor Abdülkadir Demir and directors of departments attended the press conference.
Mayor Zolan stated that this festival is the 'First' in Turkey. ‘As you know Traditional Turkish Sports Complex was opened by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 8 June 2012. This sports facility and festival is a first in Turkey. We will use this facility in order to show our children and citizens all traditional sports games. If we can do it, our children will be very close to our customs and traditions.
There are many civilizations in the world. There will be opportunity to introduce different examples of civilizations. This facility was built within the framework of protocol, signed by Minister of Youth and Sports and director general of TRT.
I would like to thank former mayor Nihat Zeybekci for his great efforts in realization of this facility. I thank Ministers and directors general. This Festival will be one of the most unique festivals in the World.

We will be Number 1 in the World
Nihat Zeybekci stated he is very pleased with realization of this organization. This festival is the start point and this sports complex will be an area of all traditional sports games. This is a chance for Denizli. Denizli will the number one not only in Turkey, but in the World. I thank all people, who contributed in implementation of this project.’
Abdülkadir Demir stated that this festival is very significant. Today the world needs in peace. The Alliance of Civilizations is a best answer to people, who are against of Alliance and who support the Clash of Civilization. Sport is the one of the most important symbols of universal peace. I believe that Denizli will fulfil this task in best way.’
