
The most prestigious award to Laodicea
The Ancient City of Laodicea, which was transferred to Denizli Metropolitan Municipality with the protocol signed between Denizli Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, took one of the world's most prestigious awards. In accordance with the protection of historical and cultural heritage, the European Union Cultural Heritage (Europa Nostra) jury gave a special prize to Laodicea Church restored by the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality with the World Heritage Laodicea Awakens Project.

Laodicea gets many awards
European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra 2016 announced the most prestigious awards in the world, in the field of cultural heritage. European Union Cultural Heritage Jury awarded the Laodicea Church restored by the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality with the World Heritage Laodicea Awakens Project with the Special Award. Denizli is very proud of winning one of the world's most prestigious awards due to the Metropolitan Metropolitan's meticulously work carried out at Laodicea. The award ceremony will take place on May 2016, in Madrid, Spain.
World Heritage Laodicea Awakens Project
The World Heritage Laodicea Awakens Project, successfully completed under the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Department of Studies and Projects coordination, was carried out between 2013-2015. Under the World Heritage Laodicea Awakens Project was carried out restoration work on the Bishop's House, the church archives and the main roads that provide access to Laodicea Church, one of the seven churches mentioned in the Bible. Under the project work, Laodicea Church book was prepared in four languages, Laodicea brochure was prepared in seven languages and was held the Late Ancient Ages Lycos Valley and Environment Symposium.
